Ric Brutocao


Ric Brutocao is a popular host on The Mentors Radio Show, where he brings to listeners innovative guests and his own seasoned experience as an entrepreneur, investor, the former president and COO of DACOR, founder of a successful telecommunications company, co-founder of LifeSavers of America, managing partner at Venture Communications, and a life-long Catholic for whom ethics and faith principles have always been first and foremost. This was true even while Ric served in Vietnam with distinction as a young man, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. During his tenure as president and COO of DACOR, the luxury kitchen appliance brand with sales and distribution facilities based throughout North America, Mr. Brutocao reduced break-even by more than 50% through lean manufacturing and subleasing excess space. He completed deals with PAC Sales (Best Buy), Sears and Lowes. And, to support the mass merchants, a new family of products was developed in under 18 months for the growing Gen X segment. Previously, Brutocao served on the Board and as interim CEO of Advanced Materials Group, a manufacturer and converter of foam products. mr. Brutocao led the company into the lucrative medical field developing a foam pad used in mammography. Serving on the Board of Centergistic Solutions, a developer of software, Mr. Brutocao negotiated an arrangement which resulted in Centergistic becoming the exclusive provider of certain products to British Telecom. Earlier, Mr. Brutocao founded LDM to provide billing software to the Cable TV market. LDM invented software allowing a cable customer to immediately view a pay event, charging a credit card while enabling the customer’s set top box. LDM’s proprietary products were purchased by Burroughs Corp (now Unisys). Motivated by the illness and challenges faced by a close family member, Mr. Brutocao and one of his brothers co-founded LifeSavers of America, developing a methodology to statistically sample blood, permitting the inexpensive harvesting of bone marrow to cure leukemia patients. LifeSavers was eventually merged into the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, where Mr. Brutocao served on the board. President George H. Bush honored LifeSavers, naming it as one of America’s “Points of Light.” Mr. Brutocao served as VP of Whittaker's prestigious Riva Yacht,S.P.A, Sarnico, Italy. Prior to this, he served on a small team that initiated and ran Whittaker's hospital and medical services contract in Saudi Arabia. He managed offices in Los Angeles, London, Copenhagen and Beirut. Mr. Brutocao served in Vietnam with distinction and was awarded the Bronze Star, as mentioned earlier. He and his wife are proud of their six children and many grandchildren.
